Come to Me…

all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me,
for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.
~ Matthew 11:28-30

Twenty-three years of walking with Jesus has swiftly passed; mid-January marks my born-again birthday. I’m proof that He will be found by those who are seeking Him.

But my Father, who knew I would be seeking Him in 1988, paved the way for me to come to Him almost 2,000 years earlier, through the death and resurrection of His Son. Amazing, isn’t it? Because God our Father loved us beyond measure, He did for us what we couldn’t do for ourselves:

But God demonstrates His own love toward us,
in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
~ Romans 5:8

All in all, I would say this 23-year journey with my Savior, though it’s had lessons on mountaintops and valleys, because of His love, care, provision, protection, and sufficient grace (to name a few) has been good for my soul. I’ve not walked alone; I’ve been yoked with Him, and, while I may not understand it, His burden has been light.

My life is different because of His call, “Come to me…”

Do you, as I did, labor to find rest for your soul, but can’t find any? Are you, as I was, heavy laden, but can’t unload the burdens? Won’t you consider answering His call? You’ll spend the rest of your life living in the presence of His majesty. And you’ll never be alone again. That’s a promise He keeps.
