Humble Pie

Last night I shared with a friend, “Humble pie, when eaten in the company of Jesus, is delicious.”

Our Father does not like it when we are in a place that requires us to be humbled. He encourages us to be “clothed with humility” and tells us,”God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5).

The thing about eating humble pie in the company of Jesus is that He enables us to eat it and enjoy it. Why? Because it places us in the very core of His heart and gives us a glimpse into what He did for us:  Christ Jesus,

“being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant,
[and] coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself and became obedient to [the point of] death,
even the death of the cross.” ~ Philippians 2:6-8

There is still much work to be done in my heart, but done under the Master’s loving and tender hand, it will be completed. I am looking forward to that moment when He will lift me up and bring me home to dwell with Him forever.
