Another Reason to Worship Him

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
For my soul trusts in You;
And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,
Until these calamities have passed by.
~ Psalm 57:1 ~

Twenty-four years ago Don wove the words of Psalm 57 into worshipful music. When my soul is distressed, I am in need, or I just need to remember to Whom I belong, I sing it as a prayer because in doing so, my soul turns toward Jesus and He encourages, strengthens, and comforts me.

Look at verses 2 and 3 of this Psalm:

I will cry out to God Most High,
To God who performs all things for me.
He shall send from heaven and save me;
He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. Selah
God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.

There is none who can save as our Lord does, therefore, my heart sings out:

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
Let Your glory be above all the earth.

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and give praise.
Awake, my glory!
Awake, lute and harp!
I will awaken the dawn.

I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing to You among the nations.
10 For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens,
And Your truth unto the clouds.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
Let Your glory be above all the earth.
(verses 5, 7-11)

His word is so comforting, fortifying, and encouraging! May it strengthen and build you up as you spend time with Him, and by His Holy Spirit inspire you to raise up your voice and worship Him in spirit and in truth, so that whatever it is you are facing today, He will be the One who carries you through it.

Blessed be Your name, forever and ever, O LORD God Almighty, who has loved us from before the foundation of the world, and who strengthens and upholds us with His mighty right arm! Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we may walk in the power of Your might, and worship You in spirit and in truth. Fulfill Your heart’s desire in our lives and be glorified by them. In Jesus’ name, we lift up our voices and sing . . .
