“And the King will answer and say to them,
‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it
to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’”
~ Matthew 25:40 ~
Today I was peeling an orange for my husband’s lunch. It was not the juiciest orange, it was somewhat past its prime. The thick inner white part (the albedo) was stuck to the outside of the sections.
I had before me a choice: Take the time to get all the white stuff off the orange or just give it to him as is. But then, this thought came to help me make the right choice: “If you were going to give this orange to Jesus, would you clean all the white stuff off each section?” “Yes.” “Then why wouldn’t you do the same thing for your husband?”
The next thought that came was the Matthew 25:40 verse. So, with this in mind, I took the time to clean off most of the albedo that was on each orange section.
It is amazing how the choices we make can please others, and in turn please Him. Definitely an aspect of the daily taking up our crosses, denying ourselves, and following Him.
Ah, Lord, You do have a way of conforming us each day, a little bit at a time, into the image of Your Son, through the choices that You put before us. Who knew that an orange could be an instrument of Your transforming work! Ha, You give us delight in the smallest things! You are glorious! Amen!
