Your Unfailing Love

But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.
~ Psalm 13:5-6 ~

I woke up this morning and the chorus to the song, “Your Unfailing Love” came to mind and I found encouragement in it. Then I read Psalm 13; it is an apt description of where my thoughts have been. The normal status quo of our lives was uprooted last year and is now in the faith-trust-and-grow-in-the-Lord phase.

Here is Psalm 13 (NIV):

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
    How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
    and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
    How long will my enemy triumph over me?

Look on me and answer, Lord my God.
    Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
    and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

But I trust in your unfailing love;
    my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
    for he has been good to me.

None of us know what God is doing in our lives, but we know that His thoughts toward us outnumber the grains of sand (Psalm 139:17-18). Therefore, we can know that He is with us and will keep us through the journey He has planned for us.

If I may encourage you, love Him, for in loving Him you will seek Him. Read His word that you may be strengthened to persevere through your sorrows. Take comfort in Him, for in Him is found everything we need at every moment in our lives.

If you cannot pick up your Bible and read it, begin with the book of Psalms; you will find common experiences with its writers. God understands; He will meet you wherever you are. Call out to Him; He will answer; no child of His is ever forsaken.

Lord, You have taken my head and lifted it up. You have taken me in Your everlasting arms and loved and comforted me. You are my refuge and my hiding place. Help me, help us, to avail ourselves of Your unfailing love. And may we bring honor and blessing and glory to You, through our Savior Jesus, as we trust Him with our lives. Amen.
